Paris Hotel Recommendations?
« on: January 09, 2012, 05:45 pm »
We're going to Brussels in April and want to stay in Paris our first night in Europe. I think we'll be taking the Eurorail to Brussels from Paris. There are a few Eurorail stations in Paris, so we have some fleixibilty in areas to stay in (but definitely not too far from the center of town). Does anyone have any recommendations? I stayed at Hotel La Bourdonnais 20 years ago - near the Eiffel tower and not out of the question, but would love to hear other not-too-expensive ideas. We can't afford George V...  :D

Thanks in advance!

The past times that I've either being leading a group (we stay at Novotel Eiffel Tower because it can accommodate large groups) or staying with friends.

My aunt loves Hotel Leveque on Rue Cler.  Not a lot of frills, but is your typical French hotel and is on a great pedestrian street.

Hmmm... had a problem with that link. Looks like a great location though! Will google it. Thanks Allyson! I knew you'd have some good ideas!

Just got back from Paris last week!  We always stay at Hotel Beaubourg, right next to the Centre Pompidou off Rambuteau (in the 4th).  It's about 100 euros a night and very nice.  Short walk to Notre Dame, the Seine, and the Maurais section. http://www.hotelbeaubourg.com/

That might be a winner... we're thinking of staying closer to the North train station since we plan to leave in the morning... Thanks!

Yeah, but with the Metro, it's not hard to find your way to Gare du Nord.

We stayed at the Hotel Muguet. Inexpensive (~60EUR if I recall correctly) and in a decent location, on the Eiffel side of the Musee des Invalides. Pleasant walk to the Musee d'Orsai.
Next time you drink a homebrew, thank Jimmy Carter, who on October 14, 1978 signed H.R.1337 legalizing homebrewing in the United States.

That's near where I stayed before... on Bordonnais...thought we'd try a different part of town, but it is really nice over there... I wish we had more than one night (and we might, depends on Charley's daughter's work schedule...) I'll check it out!

This may be a little pricey but it's lovely and close to the Bastille/Places des Vosges.

Does anyone know about the Renaissance Paris Le Parc Trocadero?  I may spend some time there this fall.

It's a super fabulous area for shopping. Tons of those adorable shops that sell 3 shirts, 2 pairs of pants and a scarf in 3 different colors! Mr. Mellamur lived about 3 blocks from this hotel so I can tell you that the area around it is quite lively. At least you'll get to see a different part of the city.

A friend of mine was raised in a small apartment in the heart of Paris, and now her mom rents it out.  It looks adorable, and I'm not sure if she does one-night-only visits.  But I thought I'd share, in the event that it's exactly what you are looking for.

Bon voyage!  |@|
