Restaurants in or near Fort Lauderdale maybe Miami

My good friend and college roommate has invited us to stay with her this weekend while we are in town for a wedding. We would like to take her out to a nice dinner for asking us to cancel our hotel and stay with her (she said she really wanted the company since her fiance was recently deployed.) We will just be getting into Fort Lauderdale after a half day drive so I don't want to go somewhere too fancy and formal. When I'm on beach vacations I love great seafood restaurants with awesome views. I remember there being a famous steak house but i can't remember the name. Any great food or drink suggestions, in addition to a nice dinner restaurant in the Fort Lauderdale or Miami area would be appreciated since we'll be there for a few days

I don't have any suggestions for FTL but for Miami- some good bars are Churchills and Tobacco Road. Monty's, in Coconut Grove, has a good raw bar.

Jaxson's ice cream shop is the JAM! Its a little north of the hollywood ft/lauderdale area but its so amazing! It's in Dania Beach.

Yes, I agree, with that I knew someone close that smoked and went to chewing tobacca. Used a spit can which was yuck, and then the door of his car.~Denise
