Oakhurst gardens is available starting this spring for small to mid size weddings.
Immediately arround the corner is a great space for receptions if you supply
The catering. For catering - recommend forge and flame: seth from eavfm and or
Urban cannibles.

Yanno.

I hated planning my own wedding, but the thought of someone else getting married in Tybee has me all excited.

A friend of a friend recently married at one of the antebellum sites in my hometown, Madison, Georgia.  Azaleas and dogwoods are in bloom in the spring and make a lovely background.

It'll more than likely be a late summer wedding. Any particular location I should check out?

Madison is about an hour and fifteen minutes east of Atlanta (http://madisonga.org/wedding_locations.htm).  I have attended many events at Heritage Hall (http://www.friendsofheritagehall.org/) and the Cultural Center (http://www.mmcc-arts.org/RentalsNew.shtml).

The GF and I actually travel a good bit, or at least we did until the house purchase that has sucked up all of our money lately, and I think the next place on the list is Turkey. I'm a sucker for slightly off the beaten path and Turkey is, at least by American standards.  Belize is also in the running but I'm not sure if I can entertain myself with just drinking and diving for more than a few days!

We went to Belize recently and did half of the trip on the interior and half at the beach with diving and drinking.  They have  a lot of awesome Mayan Ruins you can explore.  There are also day trips to Guatemala and their ruins are supposed to be even more spectacular, but we heard that it was not as safe to travel there b/c of banditos or whatever, so we did not do it.
We also did the ATM caves, there is a Nat Geo special on you could watch if you wanted more info.  I LOVED Belize, highly recommend it!

Rewinderase - you mentioned possibly the US Virgin Islands - there's a guy (boat captain, maybe?) in St. Croix that we spoke to - we had considered getting married there, but decided it would be simpler to get married here at home and then go to St. Croix for our honeymoon (this Saturday!)

If you are interested in any information, I can ask Charley for his contact information - he sounded like a really cool guy.

St. Croix is the bomb-diggity!  We honeymooned there and then went back about 3 years later with the kiddos.  I'm so jealous!  Where are you staying???  Do you dive?

Great to hear! We are staying at Colony Cove - it is  condo complex right on the beach, less than a mile West of Christensted... we don't dive, but we do plan to do some snorkeling. We'll probably go to Buck Island. We are renting a jeep also, so we can do some sightseeing. Any recommendations? Where did you stay?
I thought Cap'n drinked on his porch and dozed off? I thought I saw him one day - Denise

I got married at Red Top Mountain.  We rented out group shelter #1 for under $600 for 3 days.  The ceremony was outside next to the lake.  We brought our own booze and set up a table so everyone could fix their own drinks.  I decorated the interior of the shelter and we rented a dancefloor.  I think we had to be out of the shelter by 9pm.  That's when we moved the party to our cabin.

I concur.  Those gardens are absolutely adorable!  I take the boys there all the time, and I pretend I'm Mary in The Secret Garden.  That little playhouse thingy that got built there is awesome!!

Thought I would update this and the winner of the search is.....Paris On Ponce! Ok, so it's not exactly cheap but when I figured out that you can get married inside of an antiques store, in a room decorated like a French whore house, and MJQ/Clermont a tiny drunken stumble away for all the guests (I'm not going to kid myself and say it's for me, since my old ass will be heading to bed, more than likely), it was a done deal! Luckily, the fiancee didn't have to be persuaded for too long to agree with me. I'm still considering the actual ceremony to be somewhere else close, since I don't know how I feel about getting married on a stage, but we'll cross that bridge as it gets closer. Now it's on to the food and the photographers! All this work for just one friggin' day. I can't.  ;D

If I would have seen this sooner I would suggest The Social Goat B&B in Grant Park. PbBarb and I are getting married there, with catering by Urban Cannibel.

Although I have to say Paris on Ponce is a great idea as well.
